100 Black Men of the Bay Area Names Citi the Winner of its 2009 Corporate Achievement Award

Oakland, California – 100 Black Men of the Bay Area has named Citi the winner of its 2009 Corporate Achievement Award for supporting the group's mission of improving the quality of life of African Americans, Citigroup Inc. announced today. "Citi is thrilled to receive this prestigious award from 100 Black Men of the Bay Area," said Cheryl Evans, Citi Community Relations Western Regional Director. "This great organization has made a tremendous difference in the lives of many Bay Area African Americans, and we are proud to support it. Like ‘100 Black Men of the Bay Area,' we are committed to making lives better in the communities where we work and live, and we look forward to continuing to work together so we can both reach our goals." The Corporate Achievement award recognizes an organization and its members that capture the spirit of the mission of the "100 Black Men of the Bay Area" in the areas of Education and Mentorship, Economic Development, Leadership Development, and Health and Wellness. Daryle Whyte, Chairman of the 100 Black Men of the Bay Area's Board, said, "The 100 Black Men of the Bay Area is pleased to recognize Citi as the 2009 recipient of the Corporate Achievement Award. Citi's support clearly shows the company's longstanding commitment to the people of the Bay Area community." Citi has been a longtime supporter of the 100 Black Men and its community service programs, most recently providing a $15,000 grant for the organization's Junior 100 college access program.
