Regulations and compliances
Globally there are debates on whether there should
be regulations on CSR because then it ceases to be CSR
and enters the zone of regulatory compliance. Many argue
that it is the role of the government to take care of
her citizens by providing necessary infrastructure and
services and that is not a function that should be excused
through CSR regulations.
If one understands the CSR Tree, it would be clear
that following regulations in true spirit - self , industry,
issuewise and at times governmental, help companies
not only improve their performace but also their reputation.
On the other hand, signing global principles without
following the spirit exposes the company even more.
