country the world knows as Mongolia is actually the historic
Outer Mongolia; Inner Mongolia is still an autonomous region
of China.
From 1866, the word “Mongoloid,” which literally
means “of or like Mongols,” was used as a term for
people born with the distinctive features of Down’s syndrome.
Today, it is seen only as a racial designation.
